The Canadian Lakehead Exhibition (CLE) has confirmed its annual Family Fair will return this summer after false rumours circulated online claiming the event had been cancelled.
The fair will run Aug. 5 to 9 at the CLE grounds, with gates open daily from noon to midnight. The organization said some posters mistakenly listed the hours as 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., but confirmed the correct schedule on social media.
Fair chair Basil Lychowyd said the event is moving ahead as planned and warned the public about misinformation. He added that police have been notified after false claims about the fair were shared online.
Visitors can enjoy midway rides from Select Shows and Canuck Amusements, live entertainment, food trucks, vendors, a historical display, a baby show, and other family-friendly activities.
This year’s entertainment includes Hypnotist Corrie J, The Grand Illusion (a Styx tribute band), and Canadian rock band Glass Tiger, which will headline on Saturday.
Organizers expect about 60,000 people to attend the five-day event.
Advance admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 12, with prices increasing at the gate. Ride wristbands are also available at discounted prices before the fair begins. Tickets can be purchased at several locations across Thunder Bay and nearby communities, as well as online.
