Brunswick Creek wildfire surges in size, prompting air quality warning

An air quality warning has been issued for parts of B.C.’s Fraser Canyon, including Lytton, because of smoke from the Brunswick Creek wildfire.

The fire, burning north of Boston Bar, grew quickly over the weekend and is now estimated to cover 1,230 hectares. Strong winds with gusts of up to 50 km/h helped spread the flames.

The wildfire has led to three evacuation orders and one evacuation alert, affecting hundreds of properties in the area. Officials believe the fire was caused by human activity, but an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
