The federal alcohol tax increase that took effect April 1 will start showing up in stores across Newfoundland and Labrador tomorrow.
The tax is rising by two per cent, but the exact price change depends on the type of drink.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation opposes the tax, which was introduced in 2017 to increase automatically each year without a vote in Parliament.
The group says taxes make up about 46 per cent of alcohol prices in Canada—much higher than in other places like the United States and Europe.
