Wake the Giant apologizes after alcohol-fuelled Flo Rida performance

Wake the Giant organizers have apologized after Flo Rida’s headlining performance featured sexually charged behaviour and alcohol-themed props during the festival’s sober event.

The apology said the tequila bottles used on stage were not approved and that the artist’s team had been told alcohol was not allowed. Organizers said the performance did not reflect the festival’s values or its mission to provide a safe and inclusive space for Indigenous youth.

A spokesperson said they believe the bottles contained water, not tequila.
