U.S. President Donald Trump’s social media posts are becoming a new product for Wall Street investors, as his Truth Social company begins offering paid access to posts and updates before or as they reach the public.
The service, called Truth API, is aimed at traders who use high-speed technology to react quickly to market changes. Supporters say the information will be released publicly at the same time, meaning there is no unfair advantage. Critics argue that traders who pay for faster access and have advanced systems could still profit before everyday investors can react.
Trump’s posts have often moved financial markets. His comments about tariffs, wars, energy, and companies have caused changes in stock prices, currencies, and other investments. Experts say early access to those posts could give some traders an advantage.
Concerns have also been raised about whether the service creates conflicts of interest, since Trump can influence markets through his policy decisions and online messages. Critics question whether the platform allows private companies to profit from the president’s public position.
Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, rejected those concerns, saying critics misunderstand the difference between public and private information and are opposing free markets.
The move comes as Trump Media struggles financially. The company has reported major losses, and its stock price has fallen sharply since Trump returned to office. Selling access to high-paying Wall Street firms could provide a new source of revenue for the company.
