Owners of certain Kia SUVs are being told to park outside after a recall in Canada over a possible fire risk.
Transport Canada says a faulty front power seat switch could get stuck, causing the seat motor to overheat. This could increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is parked and turned off.
The recall affects 20,563 Kia Telluride SUVs from the 2020 to 2024 model years. It is a follow-up to an earlier recall because some vehicles may not have been repaired correctly.
Kia will contact owners by mail and ask them to visit a dealership, where an electronic fuse will be installed. Until then, owners should park their vehicle outside and away from buildings and other vehicles.
Transport Canada has also recalled 26,247 BMW vehicles because a faulty engine starter could overheat and cause a fire. Owners are advised not to use the remote start feature or leave the engine running unattended until repairs are completed.
