Trump Promotes Iran Agreement, Pushes Ukraine Peace Goals Upon G7 Arrival

U.S. President Donald Trump promoted a preliminary deal aimed at ending the war in Iran and said he will also work to end conflicts in Ukraine and Lebanon as he arrived at the Group of Seven summit in France.

Trump arrived Monday in Evian-les-Bains, where world leaders are gathering, as some allies expressed concern about his unpredictable approach to global crises.

While many welcomed the Iran deal as a step toward ending the conflict, concerns remained over new U.S. tariff threats against France, criticism of NATO, and tough rhetoric on immigration and political divisions.

In a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump highlighted the Iran ceasefire agreement announced Sunday and said the U.S. was improving relations with a long-time adversary.

He also said lower oil prices and rising markets showed early success from the deal, calling it a major win for global stability.

Trump said he now plans to focus on peace efforts in Ukraine and Russia, as well as the conflict in Lebanon, after what he described as positive talks with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The G7 summit will also cover global economic issues, artificial intelligence, and concerns about China’s control of key mineral supplies used in electronics.
