Canadians are being told to stop using a portable power bank sold online after Health Canada warned it may overheat and catch fire.
The recall involves the Super Road 12,000 mAh Solar Wireless Power Bank. Officials say its lithium-ion battery can overheat during use or charging, creating a fire risk.
About 4,964 units were sold in Canada and 7,399 in the United States between January 2019 and December 2023. The product was made in China and sold through online retailers.
Health Canada says anyone with the device should stop using it right away and follow instructions for a refund or replacement. The power bank should not be thrown in regular garbage or recycling bins. Instead, it must be taken to a local program that safely handles recalled batteries.
The agency also reminds people that recalled products cannot be resold, donated, or given away in Canada.
