Fuel leak, fire risk prompts recall of nearly 18,000 vehicles in Canada

Nearly 18,000 vehicles in Canada have been recalled because of a problem with their fuel systems.

According to Transport Canada, some vehicles may have nuts on the crossover fuel pipe that were not tightened properly. This could cause fuel to leak, which increases the risk of a fire.

The recall affects Kia Carnival minivans from the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 model years. In total, 17,873 vehicles in Canada are included.

Kia will contact owners by mail with more information. Drivers will be asked to take their vehicle to a dealership, where technicians will inspect the issue. They will tighten the nuts or replace the high-pressure fuel pipe if needed.

Separately, hundreds of Lexus vehicles in Canada have also been recalled due to a similar fuel system problem.
