Health Canada says Regina plasma clinic broke donor compensation rules

Health Canada says a plasma clinic in Regina broke donation rules by allowing a person to donate twice in less than 48 hours. The issue was found during a January 2026 inspection at a Grifols plasma centre, where the required minimum gap between donations was not followed.

Federal rules allow up to two donations in a week, but there must be at least a two-day gap between them. After the inspection, Health Canada rated the clinic as “non-compliant,” pointing to problems with its procedures, staff, equipment, and quality controls.

Experts say the findings raise concerns about whether safety rules are being properly followed and enforced. The issue comes as Grifols faces more scrutiny, including an ongoing investigation into several deaths linked to plasma donation in Manitoba.

The company says donor safety is its top priority and that it is working to fix the problems. It has updated its rules so donors must now wait at least 48 hours between donations. The Regina clinic remains open while these changes are made.
