Google has introduced a new feature that allows Gmail users to change their email address without losing their account data.
The update lets users replace their existing @gmail.com address while keeping all emails, photos, and access to services like Google Drive, Maps, and YouTube. Their old email address will still work as an alias, meaning messages sent to it will continue to arrive.
The change was found on Google’s support page in Hindi, suggesting the rollout may begin in India or other Hindi-speaking regions. The English version of the page has not yet been updated, and Google has not made an official announcement.
The feature is rolling out gradually to users worldwide. After changing an address, users must wait 12 months before creating another new Gmail address, and the new address cannot be deleted.
