The pilot and co-pilot of an Air Canada Express regional jet died after the plane hit a fire truck while landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport late Sunday, officials said.
The CRJ-900 aircraft, operated by Jazz Aviation, was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members from Montreal. No passenger injuries have been confirmed.
Authorities say the plane struck a rescue and firefighting vehicle that was responding to another incident. Photos show the front of the plane badly damaged and resting on top of the vehicle.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and LaGuardia Airport was closed as officials began their investigation.
