THUNDER BAY — Fans of Northern Logger, Beaver Duck and Skull Rock will soon have to say goodbye to the popular local beers.
Sleeping Giant Brewing Co. announced on social media Friday that it plans to close at the end of March after nearly 14 years in business.
The brewery, founded in 2012, said it made the “difficult decision” to shut down its microbrewery on the shores of Lake Superior.
The company had planned to merge with Newark Brewing in 2024, but the deal was never completed.
Over the years, the brewery sold award-winning beers, hosted community events and supported local fundraisers. It expanded in 2022 with $100,000 in funding from FedNor and had about 45 employees at that time.
