Calgary police officer fired for sexually exploiting fellow officer

The Calgary Police Service has fired an officer following allegations of sexual misconduct.

A disciplinary hearing for Const. Mike Oakey took place last week, and a final decision was announced on Wednesday.

Oakey had already been demoted in 2024 after admitting he shared an intimate video of himself and a female coworker, along with nude photos of her, without her permission.

In a statement to Global News, Calgary police said Oakey has the right to appeal the decision.

He has 30 days to file an appeal, and his lawyer told Global News that he plans to do so.

Until then, Oakey will remain suspended without pay.
