Ukraine launches more than 1,000 drones in major attack on Russia, including Moscow

Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones across Russia overnight, including hundreds aimed at Moscow, Russian officials said Sunday as the country finished its three-day parliamentary election.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called it the largest drone attack ever on the capital. He said drones damaged an oil refinery and a residential building, while 450 were shot down before reaching the city.

In the wider Moscow region, two people were killed and 20 others were injured, according to regional governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted 1,100 Ukrainian drones across the country, including over Crimea and the Black Sea. Ukraine did not immediately comment on the attack.
