Canada’s unemployment rate fell to 6.4 per cent in July, its lowest level in two years. However, Newfoundland and Labrador saw its rate rise sharply from 8.2 per cent in June to 9.3 per cent.
Quebec was the only other province to see an increase, while unemployment fell across all other provinces and territories.
In St. John’s, the unemployment rate remained at 7.0 per cent, higher than Halifax, Saint John and Fredericton but lower than Moncton.
