Canadians are being asked to check their cupboards after a nationwide recall of certain Hershey’s Kisses Creamy Milk Chocolate products.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says some 104-gram and 200-gram packages with a best-before date of June 1, 2027 may contain almonds that are not listed on the label. This could cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction for people with an almond allergy.
The CFIA says one allergic reaction has been reported.
Consumers should not eat, sell or give away the recalled chocolate. Instead, throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.
The recall was issued by Hershey Canada Inc. The CFIA is investigating and says more products could be added if needed.
The recall is classified as Class 1, the agency’s highest risk level, because of the potential for serious health effects.
