Alberta Technology Minister Nate Glubish will host the province’s second town hall on its plans for artificial intelligence data centres Thursday in Redwater, north of Edmonton.
Sturgeon County is expected to host Meta’s planned $13-billion AI data centre project.
The meeting comes after Glubish faced boos and criticism at a town hall in Lacombe on Wednesday. Opponents raised concerns about water use, environmental risks and energy costs.
Glubish said the province has strict rules to protect water supplies and control power costs.
Premier Danielle Smith will join Glubish for a virtual town hall on Aug. 27. Another in-person meeting is planned for next month in Grande Prairie.
