Five Children Killed in Ontario Crash, OPP Confirms

Five children were killed and several others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Mapleton Township, Ontario, on Friday evening, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police said a passenger van carrying 10 people collided with an SUV at an intersection northwest of Guelph. The children who died — four girls and one boy between the ages of four and 12 — were all related.

Four adults, one infant, and the SUV driver were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police called the crash a heartbreaking tragedy and offered condolences to the victims’ families. Ontario Premier Doug Ford also shared his sympathies, saying his thoughts are with those affected.

The OPP is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
