Toronto and Hamilton Area could experience wind chills near -30°C

Several areas in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area could feel as cold as -30°C with wind chill on Monday morning.

On Sunday, Environment Canada issued a yellow cold warning for parts of the region, including Hamilton, Mississauga, Brampton and Vaughan. Wind chills are expected to range from -25°C to -30°C.

The weather agency warns that extreme cold can be dangerous, especially for children, seniors and people without proper shelter. Frostbite can happen within minutes on exposed skin.

In Toronto, wind chills could drop to -18°C overnight. The city has opened two extra warming centres at Cecil Community Centre and Jimmie Simpson Recreation Centre to help people stay safe. Other warming centres remain open.
