Vice-principal in Cambridge charged in child pornography investigation

Waterloo Regional Police Service say they have arrested a 50-year-old man from Cambridge as part of an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Police identified the man as Michel Pleau, a vice-principal with the Waterloo Region Catholic District School Board. Investigators say the charges are not connected to any students in the school board. In a statement, the board said it is cooperating with police and remains focused on keeping students and staff safe.

Pleau faces several charges, including possession, making and distributing child sexual exploitation material, making explicit material available to a child, invitation to sexual touching, and luring a child under 16.

The investigation involves the police cybercrime unit and partners from the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Toronto Police Service. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
