Health warning issued over mushrooms sold across Canada

Certain mushrooms sold in Canada have been recalled due to possible contamination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA says).

The recall affects Mushmoshi brand Enoki Mushrooms in a 200-gram package with the UPC 6 931787 400001 and code 08/03/2026. Testing found the mushrooms may contain Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness.

The CFIA says contaminated food may not look or smell bad but can still make people sick. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, and headaches. Pregnant women, seniors, and people with weak immune systems are at higher risk.

No illnesses have been reported so far. The mushrooms were sold in British Columbia and possibly other parts of Canada. Consumers should not eat the product and should throw it out or return it to the store. The CFIA is continuing its investigation and more recalls may follow.
