Four charged after police uncover illegal meth lab in Niagara Falls home

Four people are facing multiple charges after police shut down an illegal meth lab at a home in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Regional Police raided a house on Brookside Drive on Dec. 23 after getting a search warrant. Inside, officers found what they described as a secret drug lab.

Specialized teams from the Ontario Provincial Police and Durham Regional Police helped safely take apart the lab. Fire and paramedic crews were nearby in case of danger.

Police also seized large amounts of drugs and other items, including 42 large containers of liquid meth, 17 kilograms of crystal meth, $6,200 in cash and a 9mm handgun. Investigators estimate the drugs could have been worth about $3.5 million once fully processed.

Those charged are Kristopher Burnett-Ackerman, 32, and Veronika Goffin, 25, both from Niagara Falls, along with Ricardo Yanez, 25, and Brandon Fuentes Escalara, 23, from California.

The four were held in custody after a bail hearing on Dec. 24 and remain in jail. Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Niagara Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
