Over 80 Pistachio Items Recalled Amid Salmonella Contamination Probe

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its recall of pistachio products as it continues to investigate a salmonella contamination linked to more than 80 items nationwide.

The recall now affects seven provinces, including British Columbia, with 86 products listed as of Nov. 24. Eleven of those items were sold in B.C., while 38 were distributed online.

Brands involved in the B.C. recalls include Enayat Farms, SSJ, along with several unbranded products.

The CFIA advises anyone who believes they became ill after consuming a recalled product to contact their healthcare provider. Consumers who have recently purchased pistachios are urged to review their products and immediately discard or return any items included in the recall.

“Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the agency warns. Vulnerable groups—such as young children, pregnant people, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems—are at higher risk for severe or potentially life-threatening infections.

Symptoms of salmonella infection can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, with some individuals developing long-term complications like severe arthritis.

A complete list of recalled products, including types and lot codes, is available on the CFIA’s recall page.
