Toyota issues recall for additional 32,000 vehicles in Canada

Toyota is recalling about 32,000 vehicles in Canada because of a problem with the rear-view display that could increase the risk of a crash, according to both the company and Transport Canada.

The issue affects some Toyota SUVs and pickup trucks with a 14-inch multimedia screen. Toyota says the display may sometimes show a distorted or blank image — such as a “half green, full green, or full black screen” — which could stop the rear-view camera from working properly when the vehicle is in reverse.

Since Canadian safety rules require a clear rear-view image while reversing, the issue means the affected vehicles don’t meet federal standards.

The recall includes 2023–2025 Toyota Sequoia models and 2022–2025 Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid models. Toyota says it will contact affected owners by mail by late November 2025, and dealerships will update the software for free.

This is the second recall in two months involving Toyota’s vehicle displays. In September, the company recalled more than 70,000 vehicles in Canada over similar software problems with the instrument panel.
