Ontario recalls dessert products over salmonella risk

Several types of desserts have been recalled in Ontario because they might be contaminated with salmonella, according to officials.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said Monday that this recall is part of an ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.

The affected desserts were sold at Jnaid Sweets on Wharncliffe Road South in London.

Here is the list of recalled products:

Consumers are being told not to eat or share these desserts. Instead, they should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were bought.

The CFIA warned that food contaminated with salmonella may look and smell normal but can still make you sick.

People at higher risk—such as young children, pregnant women, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems—could develop serious or even life-threatening infections. Even healthy people may experience symptoms like fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

In some cases, salmonella can cause long-term health problems, such as severe arthritis.

The CFIA said it is continuing its food safety investigation, which could lead to more products being recalled.
