U.S. Coast Guard suspends search for people aboard crashed medical aircraft

The U.S. Coast Guard has stopped searching for six people aboard a medical transport plane that crashed off the coast of Massachusetts near Nantucket Island.

Four Canadians and two people from Bermuda were on the aircraft, which was flying to Boston’s Logan International Airport.

The Coast Guard found debris from the Gulfstream jet late Saturday and searched by air and sea on Sunday, but no survivors were found.

The plane was operated by Canadian air ambulance company Latitude Air Ambulance. It left Bermuda early Saturday morning.

Latitude said the four crew members, a patient and the patient’s family escort are now presumed dead. The company said it will work with Canadian and U.S. authorities on the recovery and investigation.
