The four people killed in a helicopter crash in Quebec’s Montérégie region are being remembered by loved ones as investigators work to determine what caused the tragedy.
The helicopter crashed into a field in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, southeast of Montreal, just after 2:30 p.m. Saturday. All four people on board died at the scene, and police said the aircraft caught fire.
The victims were pilot Suzanne Jutras, Chantal Raymond, Loucas Perreault, and Gabriel Jasmin.
Friends described Jutras as a skilled and passionate pilot who was close to reaching 500 hours of flight time, an important milestone for many commercial aviation jobs.
In social media posts, family members said the flight was meant to celebrate Chantal Raymond’s birthday. Raymond was remembered as the family’s “pillar,” Loucas Perreault as a son with a bright future, and Gabriel Jasmin as a devoted husband and father.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent investigators to the crash site. Officials will examine the wreckage and collect evidence, a process that could take months before the cause is confirmed.
