Ontario Swelters as Extreme Heat Wave Persists Through Canada Day

Canada Day celebrations across much of Ontario are taking place under dangerous heat as an extreme heat wave continues across the province.

Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for much of southern and northern Ontario, with temperatures expected to reach the low-to-mid 30s and humidex values making it feel as hot as 44 C in some areas, including Toronto.

The hot and humid weather could last through the weekend. Health officials are urging people to stay hydrated, avoid too much alcohol and watch for signs of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
