Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada and France will strengthen defence and industrial ties through a new agreement that allows the sharing of classified information in areas such as defence, space, artificial intelligence and aerospace.
Carney announced the deal alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Friday. Macron said the two leaders would discuss trade, defence and security, and called Canada a close partner of France and Europe.
The meeting comes ahead of next week’s G7 summit, where leaders are expected to focus on global conflicts, support for Ukraine and online safety for children.
