More Than 6,000 Vehicles in Canada Recalled Over Fire Risk

More than 6,000 vehicles are being recalled in Canada because of a problem that could increase the risk of a fire, according to Transport Canada.

The recall affects certain 2024, 2025, and 2026 Hyundai Elantra models. A total of 6,082 vehicles in Canada are impacted.

Officials said a problem with the vehicles’ hybrid power control unit could cause it to overheat. If that happens, the vehicle may not start, could lose power while driving, or the warning light may turn on.

Transport Canada said the issue could also create a fire risk.

Hyundai will contact owners by mail and ask them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for a software update.
