After a successful launch, the Artemis II crew is now on a historic journey.
The Orion spacecraft lifted off from Kennedy Space Center just after 6:30 p.m. ET, following a short delay for final checks. NASA confirmed that all four astronauts — including Canadian Jeremy Hansen — are safe on board.
Over the next 10 days, the crew will collect data to support future space missions. In about six days, they will fly past the moon and travel farther than any humans have before, breaking a record set during the Apollo missions.
After circling the moon, Orion will return to Earth, with a planned splashdown on April 10.
