U.S. President Donald Trump said American forces will keep striking Iran “very hard” over the next two to three weeks, warning the country could be pushed “back to the Stone Age.” He claimed U.S. operations have already met or exceeded their goals.
Trump did not mention any plans for negotiations or explain how the conflict would end. He also didn’t say whether ground troops would be sent.
After his comments, oil prices jumped and stock markets in Asia fell. Higher fuel costs are also pushing up prices for everyday goods.
Meanwhile, Iran’s army chief warned that if U.S. troops enter the country, none would survive.
