Fungus-tainted products sold at Dollarama stores across Canada

Certain baby products sold at Dollarama stores across Canada are being recalled after officials discovered they were contaminated with fungus.

In a notice issued Tuesday, Health Canada urged consumers to immediately stop using the affected items and return them to Dollarama for a refund.

The recall involves Disney Baby Water Teethers, model number 3121188. The teethers were sold in two designs, both featuring a hollow, octagonal shape with textured sections. One version is teal with Mickey Mouse graphics, while the other is pink with Minnie Mouse.

Health Canada said testing found the liquid filling inside the teethers was contaminated with Rhinocladiella similis, a type of fungus. While the fungus is typically harmless, officials warned it could cause infection if the teether is punctured and the liquid is ingested by a child.

“Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, teether fillings must not contain any living microorganisms,” Health Canada said in the advisory.

As of Jan. 14, no injuries or incidents related to the recalled products had been reported in Canada. A total of 15,289 units were sold nationwide between November 2023 and January 2026.

Consumers are advised to return the recalled teethers to any Dollarama location for a refund. More information is available from Dollarama at 1-888-365-4266 or through the company’s website.

Health Canada also reminded consumers that recalled products cannot be resold, redistributed, or given away in Canada.
