Astronomer’s Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot Resigns Following Viral Coldplay Video

Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer at Astronomer, has resigned, the company confirmed on Thursday.

Her resignation follows a viral video that showed her and Andy Byron, who was CEO of the company at the time, hugging at a Coldplay concert earlier this month.

Byron had already stepped down last week after being put on leave. The video, taken at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, showed the two on the big screen — often called the “kiss cam.” They were seen hugging, then quickly pulling apart and trying to hide.

Coldplay singer Chris Martin made a joke during the moment, saying, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The clip spread quickly online, along with reports that Byron had spoken about the situation. But Astronomer said Byron never released a statement, and that reports saying otherwise were wrong. The company also cleared up confusion about a third person shown in the video.

Astronomer posted a message on LinkedIn saying it remains committed to its values, and that its leaders are expected to act responsibly and set a good example.

Astronomer, a tech company that helps with data and artificial intelligence problems, was founded in 2018. In a second message, the company admitted the viral video brought sudden attention but said it is staying focused on its mission.

Pete DeJoy, one of the company’s co-founders and current Chief Product Officer, is now serving as interim CEO. Byron’s LinkedIn profile has been taken down, and his name has been removed from the company’s leadership page.
