Health Canada Issues Recall of 10 Frozen Italian Pastry Products

Health Canada Recalls Frozen Pastries Over Salmonella Risk

Health Canada has issued a recall for several frozen pastry products sold under the Sweet Cream and D. Effe T. brands due to potential Salmonella contamination.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recall was triggered by findings uncovered during an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. So far, one illness potentially linked to the recalled products has been reported.

The affected items include ten pastries distributed across Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and possibly other provinces and territories:

  • D. Effe T. Apollini Mignon (Mini Lobster Tail)

  • D. Effe T. Apollo K2 (Big Lobster Tail)

  • D. Effe T. Sfogliata Napoli (Big Sfoglia Napoli)

  • D. Effe T. Mini Sfogliatella (Mini Sfogliatelle)

  • D. Effe T. Mini Sfogliatella Cioccolato (Mini Chocolate Sfogliatelle)

  • Sweet Cream Apollini Mignon (Mini Lobster Tail)

  • Sweet Cream Apollo K2 (Big Lobster Tail)

  • Sweet Cream Sfogliata Napoli (Big Sfoglia Napoli)

  • Sweet Cream Mini Sfogliatella (Mini Sfogliatelle)

  • Sweet Cream Mini Sfogliatella Cioccolato (Mini Chocolate Sfogliatelle)

The CFIA’s investigation is ongoing and may result in additional product recalls.

Health officials remind consumers that Salmonella-contaminated food may appear normal but can cause illness. Symptoms typically include fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, with long-term effects such as severe arthritis in some cases.

Anyone who has purchased these products is urged to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
