Nintendo Switch 2 Preorders Begin April 24 at $449.99
Nintendo has officially confirmed that preorders for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 24 in the U.S., with a starting price of $449.99.
Originally slated to go live on April 9, preorders were delayed due to concerns over new tariff regulations. These include a 145% tariff on goods imported from China and a 10% rate on products from Vietnam—two countries where Nintendo has previously manufactured consoles.
The Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025.
A special bundle featuring Mario Kart World will be available for $499.99, while standalone digital versions of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will be priced at $79.99 and $69.99, respectively.
At $449.99, the Switch 2 marks Nintendo’s most expensive console launch to date—significantly higher than the original Switch’s $299.99 price point at its 2017 debut. This shift signals a notable change in Nintendo’s market strategy, moving away from the more budget-friendly positioning that characterized previous consoles like the Wii ($249.99) and the original Switch.
