Netflix Announces Price Hike in Canada
Netflix is increasing its subscription prices in Canada, affecting most of its plans.
The streaming giant announced that the monthly cost of its most affordable option, the standard plan with ads, is rising by $2 to $7.99 per month. The standard plan without ads will see a $2.50 hike, bringing the total to $18.99 per month, while the premium plan will increase by $3 to $23.99 per month.
Notably, there will be no changes to the fees for adding an extra member.
The new pricing takes effect immediately for new subscribers, while existing members will experience the changes on their next billing cycle.
In a letter to shareholders, Netflix explained that the price adjustments are tied to investments in programming.
Similar price changes are being implemented across other regions, including the United States, Portugal, and Argentina. In Canada, the last price increase occurred in 2022.
