Heavy Snowfall Expected Across Ontario This Week
Wintry Weather Set to Sweep Across Ontario Early This Week
Ontario is bracing for its first significant dose of wintry weather this season. Residents are being warned of a late fall storm expected to bring snow and freezing rain across much of the province early this week.
According to Environment Canada, the storm is forecasted to begin on Monday (Nov. 25) and extend into Tuesday, potentially impacting travel and daily activities.
Various weather models are offering slightly different projections:
- European Model: Predicts significant snowfall and freezing rain in the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, Halton, Durham, and as far north as Sudbury.
- Canadian Model: Indicates heavier snow accumulation in Ottawa, Kingston, and Barrie.
- American Model: Suggests lighter snowfall in western Ontario, with freezing rain warnings for London, Kitchener, and Windsor.
- North American Model: Aligns closely with the American model, emphasizing freezing rain in eastern parts of Ontario.
Snowfall totals could range from 5 to 10 centimetres, with icy conditions potentially continuing into Wednesday. Hazardous road conditions and reduced visibility are expected to be key concerns.
Environment Canada advises that the storm’s path and intensity remain uncertain as it continues to develop. Updated forecasts and warnings will be issued as more information becomes available.
Residents are urged to stay informed and exercise caution if traveling during the storm.
