Big White Resort Opens Early Following Heavy Early-Season Snowfall

Big White Ski Resort has announced an early opening this year, following significant snowfall overnight.

According to Michael J. Ballingall, Big White’s vice president, the Ridge Rocket, Plaza Chair, and Gondola lifts will open on Friday, Nov. 22, operating from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Skiers and snowboarders will have access to Easy Out, Highway 33, and Serwa runs, as well as the Plaza Chair runs.

To celebrate the limited opening, lift tickets will be offered at half price until further notice.

Originally scheduled to open on Nov. 28, the resort’s decision to start early comes thanks to a substantial early-season snow base, which has already surpassed 100 cm.

Ballingall expressed excitement about the early opening, particularly after last year’s delayed start. “It feels fantastic—it’s better than Christmas!” he said.
