Energy Savings on Electricity Costs in Ontario Starting November 1

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has announced updated electricity rates for the province, which will take effect on November 1. Alongside the rate changes, winter regulations will also be implemented that day.

Electricity customers in Ontario can choose between three billing options: time-of-use, ultra-low overnight, or a tiered plan. Time-of-use and ultra-low overnight plans vary based on when electricity is consumed, while the tiered plan is determined by the total monthly electricity usage.

Most Ontarians are on time-of-use pricing. Since 2022, the OEB has set rates annually on November 1, with seasonal adjustments to rate schedules continuing twice a year, except for the ultra-low overnight plan.
