Ontario Recalls Beef Jelly Tongue Products Due to Potential Listeria Contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for over a dozen brands of beef jelly tongue products sold in Ontario due to potential Listeria contamination.

The recall, announced on Saturday, urges consumers to discard the affected meat or return it to the place of purchase. The products in question include 13 brands, as well as some beef jelly tongue items that may be sold without a specific brand label.

The CFIA states that the potentially contaminated products were sold in stores located in London, Waterloo, Kitchener, and across the Greater Toronto Area up until Saturday.

Listeria-contaminated food may not show signs of spoilage, but the bacteria can cause serious symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, and neck stiffness. People with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and pregnant individuals are particularly vulnerable to Listeria infection.
