Health Canada Recalls Gerber Baby Cereal Over Cronobacter Concerns

Health Canada has issued a recall for Gerber brand Oat Banana & Mango Baby Cereal due to potential Cronobacter contamination.

The affected products were sold online and in stores across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and possibly other provinces and territories.

The recalled cereal comes in 227 g packages with a best-before date of May 30, 2025.

Health Canada advises consumers not to consume the recalled product and to either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.

The agency notes that food contaminated with Cronobacter may not appear or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. In rare cases, it can lead to serious or fatal infections, particularly in newborns. Cronobacter has been linked to severe intestinal infections and blood poisoning.
