Trudeau Reports Conversation with Trump Following Shooting, Denounces Political Violence

The Prime Minister’s office announced that Justin Trudeau spoke with former President Donald Trump this afternoon following a deadly shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, PA, on Saturday.

In a statement, Trudeau’s office conveyed that the Prime Minister wished Trump a speedy recovery, “condemned what he called an appalling assassination attempt, and reiterated that there is no place for political violence.”

The incident, an apparent attempt to assassinate the former president and presumed Republican candidate for the upcoming presidential election, resulted in one attendee killed and two others injured.

Trump’s campaign reported that he is fine after being quickly escorted off the stage by Secret Service agents, despite visible blood on his face.

The 20-year-old shooter from Pennsylvania was killed during the incident.

During the conversation with Trump, Trudeau expressed condolences to the victims of the shooting and the family of the deceased attendee.
