Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Calgary on Wednesday ahead of a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The two leaders will meet Thursday before Zelenskyy speaks to a federal cabinet meeting in Banff, Alta.
Carney said the visit will focus on stronger defence, economic and energy ties, as well as support for Ukraine during Russia’s war.
Canada has pledged $6.5 billion in military aid for Ukraine through 2029 and continues to support the country’s recovery and reconstruction.
Zelenskyy and his wife, Olena Zelenska, will also visit Toronto and North Bay, Ont., before leaving Canada on Friday.
