Three men have pleaded guilty in connection with the death of Owen Sound restaurant owner Sharif Rahman.

Three men have pleaded guilty in the death of Sharif Rahman, an Owen Sound restaurant owner who died after confronting customers trying to leave without paying in August 2023.

Robert Evans Jr., who was 23 at the time, admitted to punching Rahman outside The Curry House restaurant. Rahman fell, hit his head on the sidewalk, and later died in hospital from serious injuries.

Barry Evans admitted to helping Evans Jr. escape, while Robert Evans Sr. bought his son a plane ticket to return to the UK.

Evans Sr. and Barry Evans received time served and could soon be deported. Evans Jr. is expected to receive a 42-month prison sentence and will learn his official sentence in July.
