THUNDER BAY — City police are using a new AI program to train 911 operators.
The Thunder Bay Police Service is the first in Canada to use this technology. The program, created by ThisGen 911, simulates real emergency calls, from simple requests to serious situations.
Trainees answer the calls like they would in real life, asking questions and guiding the caller. After each session, the program gives feedback on how they did and how they can improve.
The system can also be customized with local scenarios from Thunder Bay, helping trainees practice real situations they may face on the job.
Police say the tool is also helping with recruitment, giving people a chance to try the job.
