Outbreak grows: 13 confirmed cases tied to southern Ontario restaurant

More cases of salmonella have been confirmed as health officials investigate an outbreak linked to a Hamilton restaurant.

There are now 13 confirmed cases connected to the Piper Arms location in Stoney Creek, up from nine earlier this week. Six people have been hospitalized, though two others were treated in the emergency department and released.

Another 44 people have reported symptoms after eating at the restaurant, but those cases are still unconfirmed. Officials have not yet identified the exact food that caused the illness.

The restaurant has been temporarily closed while the investigation continues and safety checks are completed.
