Costco Canada issues refunds following urgent chocolate recall

Costco Canada is offering refunds after recalling two chocolate products over possible health risks. The recall affects Peace by Chocolate’s Harmony Bar and its Classic Box of 15 assorted filled chocolates, which were sold online between Sept. 7 and Dec. 3.

The chocolates contain pistachios that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was issued after one of the company’s ingredient suppliers flagged a specific batch of pistachios as potentially unsafe. No other Peace by Chocolate products are included in the recall.

Salmonella can cause symptoms such as fever, stomach cramps, nausea and diarrhea, even if food looks normal. Young children, seniors, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness.

Customers are advised not to eat the recalled products. Peace by Chocolate says no illnesses have been reported so far. A full refund is available by returning the affected items or the entire variety pack to any Costco warehouse.

The recall comes as several pistachio-related products in Canada have been pulled from shelves due to Salmonella concerns.
