WestJet Responds to Cybersecurity Breach

WestJet says it’s dealing with a cybersecurity incident affecting access to its mobile app.

In a statement shared on social media Friday night, the Calgary-based airline said the issue involves internal systems and the WestJet app, limiting access for some users.

“We have activated specialized internal teams and are working with law enforcement and Transport Canada to investigate the matter and reduce any impact,” the company said.

WestJet added it’s working to protect the safety of its operations and the security of personal data belonging to both passengers and staff. “We apologize for the disruption this has caused,” the airline said.

As of Saturday morning around 8 a.m., the company said there were no new updates on the situation.
